It seems crazy that Zuri has been with us for 4 weeks now. It has been a long 4 weeks in some ways but in other ways it really has gone by fast. On Thursday we will go to her 1 month appointment and report back on her official stats.
Zuri continues to be a pretty good sleeper and eater. She's only been getting up 1 time a night since about the fist week which is awesome. The only problem is we sometimes struggle to get her back to sleep after that feed- a few nights it has stretched to an hour or 2 after eating. I attempted to start her on the baby routine we use for our kids today so hopefully that will help us get her going from 10:30pm ish to 7am ish sooner vs later.
Part of the reason I'm motivated to get going on the routine is she seems to be getting more and more fussy over the last week. It appears that none of our kids enjoy being a newborn much. I wonder about reflux or if they are just mad that they can't control their little bodies like they want to. Like most babies it sometimes seems to take off more in the evening so one of the beautiful things about the routine is they are asleep from 7pm-10:30pm ish. Tonight I've been able to help with baths & bed with the other kids and bust out some blog posts unlike the other nights of the last few weeks where I had to be holding her non-stop.
Kai and Rori seem to be adjusting well to having a new baby. Rori likes to inform us when she is crying- like when we are all in the car together. "Baby crying!" The other night when Zuri was fussing Lance noted that Rori immediately ran and tried to find a way to comfort her (binky, bottle, blankie etc.) while Kai just ignored it and continued to play some car racing thing right next to her. Kai is actually very caring for both his sisters, but it is interesting to note the natural mothering instinct in Rori.
