Bear Lake

This past Friday & Saturday Kai and I met up with Lance's family at Bear Lake, UT. It seems to be a destination point for lots of people we know this summer. Lance stayed home and got in some extra work. Kai loved the boat, the sand, the water, and playing time with Kennedy. The water was beautiful and we had great weather too. Thanks for letting us tag along!

2 Year Stats

On Friday Kai had his 2 year appointment. We talked all about going beforehand and he happily walked in to the waiting room. Then, as soon as they called his name to head back to a room he let out a cry and decided he'd rather not be there. After some convincing he settled down and decided that it really wasn't so bad after all. Especially because he didn't get any shots this time. He's convinced that he has a birdy in his ear now though because when the doctor wanted to look in his ears she made a bird noise and asked him if he heard it. So now when anyone asks him about the doctor visit he points to his ear and says birdy. He's sure that can't be a good diagnoses.

So here are his stats:

Weight- 28 pounds 50%

Height- 37 1/2 inches "Above the curve- average height for a 34 month old" said the doctor)

So far it seems he's a tall one like his Dad.

One More Celebration

Tonight we had Lance's parents and his brother Tyler's family over for some dinner and cake. Yes, we've apparently really taken to heart the whole birthday month celebration concept. We hadn't seen cousins Kennedy and Jack for awhile though and had to share some cake with them. We had a nice night and the kids had a blast running through the hose water at the end. Yes, we're back to the 100+ temps.

San Fran

We just got back from a great handful of days in San Fransisco. Lance was attending the ABA (American Bar Association) annual big conference and Kai and I decided to tag along. Lance's parents even decided to join us there for a few days which was super fun. Some highlights of the trip were riding the cable cars, yummy meals, riding the carousel, seeing the sea lions, ice cream sundaes, playing with grandma and grandpa, and on and on.

Another huge highlight was getting to hang out with the Wise's. Kai LOVED Beckham and Hudson. They were so super cute. Plus it was so great because all 3 boys got along so well and love doing all the same sorts of things. That sure made it nice for us parents. It really was so much fun. We only wish we lived closer.

It was a great trip and really nice to enjoy the cooler summer weather for a few days.

On Kai's actual birthday he rode the caurosel, had an ice cream sundae, went swimming in the hotel pool, and just hung out with Mom and Dad. It is hard to imagine that he is already 2 years old. We laugh every day at all the funny things he says and does. We love his sweet temperment, how he loves to run, jump and dance, his bright blue eyes and blond hair, and the gentle way he plays with his little friends. As the days pass it has just been getting better and better.

Playgroup Birthday Party

Last night Kai's little playgroup got together to celebrate Andrew and Kai's August birthdays. There was swimming, sliding, teeter-tottering, and firetruck cake with ice cream eating. These kids are sure cute together. Kai had a fabulous time.

Hike to Cecret Lake

Yes, it really is spelled that way. This morning we went on a hike with Grandpa Sorenson to Cecret Lake up Little Cottonwood Canyon - one mile each way, elevation gain of 300 feet. Kai walked the whole way up and back by himself, holding Grandpa's hand only half of the time (on the steep parts). He loved it.

Happily Shocked

Wednesday night the stroller appeared on our front porch. I really thought we would never see it again. It even seems to be in the condition we left it in- in other words no major signs of trauma to it. I was happily shocked. It only took me 3 calls a day Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

I learned that if you ever have to call AA baggage you press 1 for English and then remain silent when it asks you the next question 3 times. Remaining silent will shoot you to the next available customer service agent faster.

My other tip is to never allow the ticket agent people to convince you to leave the stroller at the top of the ramp. Fight this even if everyone else is leaving their strollers there because when you get to your destination they will all not have their strollers either. Then you get to wait in the problem line together while your kids are going nuts wanting to run after a long day of confined traveling. Keep in mind that you no longer have a stroller to trap them in while waiting in line.

Of all the tons of flights we have done with strollers/ wheelchairs I have never been told to this before this trip. Normally they have you leave it at the bottom next to the plane. After this instruction I questioned them twice, but I shouldn't have given in. They had just switched me to a bulkhead seat (room for Kai to stand at my feet), so I wasn't trying to rock the boat more at that point. I should have rocked.

No charge for those child friendly travel tips. :)
