Really I think Kai thought this was one of the best weekends ever. He enjoyed all the super fun things. It was cute to see him at the parties with these boys from school. We're glad he has had a good adjustment here and been able to make good friends.
I didn't get any great Fall Festival pictures due to the fact that it was pretty dark. The kids wore costumes and got to Trunk or Treat at about 20+ cars. They also had a book fair, a cake walk, little game booths, and different food options. I was a little surprised by some of the more scary decorations, grown-up music, and grown-up outfits- welcome to Vegas I guess. It seemed like a sucessful school fundraiser to me though.
Soccer went well and we were excited to have the temperature drop enough for it to be quite comfortable.
The first birthday party at the Adventuredome was pretty cool. It was for a little boy in Kai's school class so it was fun to get to meet him and his parents. This place has all sorts of crazy rollercoasters and rides- think over stimulation to the max. Fortunatley they had a set of rides all grouped together that were age appropriate for the boys. Michelle and I took Kai and Cooper straight from soccer which meant we got there a little late. The boys jumped right in to the pizza and ice cream with the other kids when we got there before they all hit the rides. When they arrived they were greeted with big hugs from the other boys which was pretty cute.
We went straight from there to Chuck E. Cheese for the next party. The party was for a little boy that is in Kai's class and goes to our Church. This was Kai's first trip to Chuck E. Cheese and he thought it was great. In UT Fat Cats served a similar purpose. It seemed cleaner, brighter, and nicer than the place I remember as a kid. But it was also nice and loud just like the Adventuredome. My ears were ringing the rest of the night. Michelle was a trooper and ended up staying with the boys for the whole thing and bringing Kai home so I could run to dinner with Lance, Rori and friends.
Kai did a great job at the Primary Program. I love that the kids are learning from a young age to be comfortable getting up in front of everyone and speak in to the microphone. That is overwhelming for the average adult. I thought the program was pretty ambitious. There were severeal solo singers, a group sign language number, and just a lot of kids involved to coordinate. Rori was highly miffed when Kai got to go up on the stand with all the other big kids and she didn't. She had to be removed from the room until she calmed down enough to go back in and watch and listen. A snack and coloring bribe may have assisted with this.
Anyway, it was a busy but good weekend. The pictures aren't great because I just had my little point and shoot but they give you a flavor for it all. I was worried that we might experience some meltdowns due to exhaustion and over stimulation but things went well. Now we just all need a long nap.

Wow, I'm beat reading about it. I mean seriously, what didn't you do this weekend? Glad all had fun and I hope you can now rest :)
I just love Kai's expression on the ride! There is definitely no fear- just joy! Yes, his little friend does have long hair, and I can understand why Kai thought what he thought. The years are going to fly fast now. Hang on and enjoy every minute!
