Our Commonwealth House

We said our final goodbyes to our Commonwealth house this weekend.  We have such great memories in that house and neighborhood so parting really is a sweet sadness.  We love the feel of that area and the great proximity to everything.  We especially loved the great people living in that neighborhood brought in to our lives.  We have to keep reminding ourselves that we have outgrown the house and yard, that we don't really want to be landlords, and that many of the families we loved that made it so magical have moved on as well.  We have been SO lucky to have had a great renter over the last few years and then to have sold it the first day it was listed.  What???  We are really so grateful.  Goodbye Commonwealth!

July '14 Summer Fun

Summer has been going by so quickly.  I still feel like we are just getting started and then I look at the calendar and think it is going to be over before we know it.  So this is how we have been filling our time so far:

Kai did a 4 week (1 hour a day) Volleyball Camp at the local Junior High.  4 weeks sounds so long but it went by so fast and we were sad to see it end.  It was supposed to be for 5th grade and up, but the coach is the same coach Lance had as a kid so he told us to have Kai come out anyway.  It was the first time Kai had tried Volleyball (other than peppering with his Dad) and he LOVED it.  At the end he said Volleyball is currently in his top 2 or 3 of all sports.  We got permission for his school buddy Aidan (whose Dad was also a Volleyball player) to come too which was lots of fun.  Then, his cousins also joined him for the last 2 weeks which was awesome.  I have a feeling there will be more Volleyball in our future and that sounds good to me because it sure is fun to watch.

Another perk to the camp were finding several gems like this up on the walls of the school.  Spot anyone familiar?:

We were also super spoiled to have the Mullins cousins come and visit for the last 3 weeks and do all sort of fun things with them like smore's making up the canyon, tons of swimming, splash pad, going to the movies, multiple trips to the Zoo, tons of backyard playing, a few visits to In N Out Burger and other food favorites, a fieldtrip to Swig & BYU, a brand new hearing aid birthday party, and so much more.  The kids had so much fun together and we are already missing them so much.  As you can probably tell in the pictures there was a lot of Zuri spoiling going on, a lot of Rori and Kate being best buddies and holding hands, and a lot of games and laughing by Kai, Emme, and Jake.

*In the line for the train at the Zoo I spotted a girl with Angelman Syndrome.  This was an easy sighting as she and Whitney look so much alike.  She was with her school program, but the helper with her was nice and I explained to her how rare it is and why I was so excited.  Here is my not so sly picture attempt for Mom and Dad after.  See that blonde hair and skin color?

Lots and lots of swimming, lessons, and swim team:

Getting up in the Mountains for some hiking at Donut Falls:

We've got a few more super fun summer things coming up and we can't wait!
