Basketball Weekend

...and a little shopping too.

Last weekend we were super spoiled to have both Grandpa Utah and Grandma and Grandpa Whitney come for a visit.  They all arrived on Friday and we started things off with our tradion of dinner at Lucille's and playing at the district.  Yummy!  My friend Rebecca and her family happened to also be in town visiting from CA so after dinner we set up a quick visit with them in the play area.

It was Kai's last basketball game of the season on Saturday, so he was super excited to get to play for everyone.  It was a tough defensive game for both sides, but Kai did well and even sank a pretty far out shot.  Afterwards the coach passed out their award medals and talked about each player so that was neat for everyone to be at as well.

That afternoon the guys and kids hung out at home while my Mom and I did a little shopping.  We accomplished our shopping pretty quick and enjoyed grabbing a drink and sitting out in the sun for a bit since for once we didn't have kids to be rushing back for.

Saturday night all 4 guys went to the UNLV vs San Diego State Basketball game.  Both teams were ranked pretty high so that was exciting.  The girls happily ordered a pizza and played at home.

Sunday morning everyone hung out for a bit before hitting the road home again.  We were sad to see them all go so quick, but were so grateful that they had made such a big venture to spend time with us and see Kai play.  Yeah for great family and getting to spend time with them!

I guess we were too busy enjoying things to take many pictures.  Sometimes that's not all bad.

These Kiddos

Man we love them.  They are all so cute, and funny, and crazy, and sweet, and full of their own unique personalities.

Kai was super thrilled to be named the Student of the Month for January in his class.  Zuri and I joined him for his reward pizza luncheon.  He was very excited about it and we were very proud of him.  He really is such a great kid.  He's very proud of the fact that he has never been on anything but green in his entire school career.  :)  He soaks up everything he can learn about, is helpful, is kind to everyone, and is so wise beyond his years.

Rori has also been doing a great job at school.  She loves her friends there and looks forward to going every day.  She has been working very hard on her speech and language and was rewarded with a trip to Chuck E Cheese for achieving a big goal.  She was thrilled and her siblings thought it was pretty awesome too.  She is a very kind big sister to Zuri and it has been so fun to see the girls having such a great time playing together.  Several times now the two them have spent over and hour playing up in Rori's room together.  Rori is such a sweet and cheerful little girl that loves to cuddle, be silly, help in the kitchen, and play with her stuffed animals.

Zuri is so funny these days.  She is all over the place and in to everything.  She loves coloring, playing with her baby dolls, and dancing.  She is super social and loves to be around other kids.  She is talking a ton and might be heard saying some of her favorite phrases 100 times a day like: "Where's Rori?  Where's Kai?", "I don't like it", "Kai did it", and "More please".  She can be totally exhausting and sassy at one moment, and then cuddly and full of kisses the next.

Weekend Snow-Venture

We made a quick trip up to Utah weekend before last.  The kids were thrilled to see Grandpa UT, their cousins, and lots of SNOW.  On the drive up we had a few patches of crazy fog but otherwise the roads were clear.  Then on Sunday afternoon/ Monday morning we got a huge snowstorm which we all enjoyed.  We didn't hit the road to go home again until mid day Monday and by then the roads were clear again and we never saw any weather the rest of the long drive back.  We were very lucky and very grateful that the weather cooperated.

This trip was spent being thrilled to play in the snow with grandpa, going to Jack and Kennedy's basketball games, eating some of our favorite UT food, seeing the progress on the Wilkinson's new house, visiting grandma's park in the snow, Lance geting up really early to share bagels with some old friends, going to Church with Grandpa, visiting with great gandma at the rehab place where she was healing from a broken hip, having a pizza and dance party with the cousins, and meeting some kids in UT that are hearing impaired.  We actually accomplished quite a bit in such a small amount of time.  As usual there were places to go, people to visit, and foods to sample that remain on our wishlist for a next time.  It took us all last week to recover, but it was a fun whirlwind trip.
